Statement from Catherine Winter, Managing Director, Financial Capability and Community Outreach

Update: 06 October 2020

Dear colleagues,

We hope that you and your school community have had a successful start to the new academic year, and are doing well in these challenging times.

2020/21 qualification adaptations

Ofqual have recently released a statement regarding the planned approach to any adaptations to qualifications for 2020/21. It has been agreed that awarding bodies will communicate their plans for any adaptations to their centres before 23 October.

What adaptations will LIBF make to their qualifications?

Our financial education qualifications for 11 to 19-year olds sit within the Vocational Technical Qualification classifications which incorporate a degree of flexibility as part of their original design.

Having consulted with our Chief Examiner and qualification teams, and sense-checked our plans with some of our delivering centres, we have agreed that the content of our qualifications will not change. This applies to Level 1 and 2 LiFE, Level 2 CeFE/AiFE, Level 3 CeFS/DipFS and CeFCCD (Wales only) and will ensure that our qualifications remain rigorous and robust, in line with their original specification.

Assessment windows

In addition we have reviewed our assessment windows, which are available in our key dates document, and these will remain unchanged. We do have several contingency plans available should there be any regional lockdowns that may have an impact on a centre’s examination process. If, prior to any assessment windows, you are aware of any possible issues please contact our support team on 01227 828234 or FCexams@libf.ac.uk

Continued support to our centres

In the current circumstances, there may continue to be unforeseen changes and alternative provision/s we all have to make. We will continue to support our centres and their students and provide clear communications on important changes.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. You can contact our support team on 01227 828234 or FCexams@libf.ac.uk

Best wishes,

Catherine Winter
